The Santa Maria Police Council had the privilege to partner with Kirk & Simas Law Firm and our proud Santa Maria Elks #1538 to host a successful fundraiser to help provide needed protective wear for our K-9 Police officers.
The event was held October 1st, 2021 from 5pm until 8pm hosted and held at the Elks Lodge In Santa Maria and they were gracious enough to hold the event on their Friday night cook your own which led to a large crowd for our fundraiser. We were privileged with visits by several dignitaries and local officials in attendance, several SMPC members were in attendance and also featured several officers from the SMPD and of course our fine K-9 unit. There were amazing Raffle and Auction items valued at hundreds of dollars and a 50/50 drawing with door prizes. The Elks made the entire event a huge success by making available the Ladies bar for small hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails but also allowing our guests to enjoy the famous Elks cook your own and a live band for everyone’s pleasure. Kirk & Simas Law offices had the idea for the fundraiser and they were joined by the Elks and the SMPC whom all three coordinated, planned and held the event to support our police department and their officers.
Special Thank You to so many that helped but please let us thank Anthony Principe with Kirk & Simas for coming up with the idea to raise money for our K-9 unit and Shelley Wonnell also with Kirk & Simas and a big thank you to Phil Daighton with the Elks #1538 his coordination and communication were simple outstanding, thank you Phil.
The event was a great success with donations and money raised totaling $8600.00 which will be allocated to the SMPD K-9 unit specifically.
Most importantly our team would like to thank each and every person that contributed donations to support our fine police department. This way, your generosity not only protects our brave K-9 friends but protects our entire community and for that we are grateful and safer.
